FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Art Gets a Personal Touch at Hands On, Oct. 10th

Chicago, IL (September 18th, 2009)—Don't be afraid to touch and interact with the artwork in Hands On, presented by Chicago-based collective, Deadline Projects. Breaking down boundaries between art and audience in this one-night exhibition, local artists unveil new work specifically created to be touched, handled, and manipulated by the audience.  Hands On is a free event and opens to the public on October 10th, from 6:00pm to 11:00pm at Happy Dog Gallery.

Hands On is part of Chicago Artists Month 2009, the fourteenth annual celebration of Chicago’s vibrant visual art community. In October, more than 200 exhibitions of emerging and established artists, openings, demonstrations, tours, open studios and neighborhood art walks take place at galleries, cultural centers and arts buildings throughout the city.  Chicago Artists Month is organized by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and is made possible through support provided by Bank of America. For more information, visit www.chicagoartistsmonth.org.

Participating artists include: Arielle Bielak, nikki hollander, Damien James, Blake Parish Lewis, Roth Mobot, Vivien Park, Sarah Perez, Holly Sabin, Marc Salha, Shawn Stucky, Michael Una, and Russ White.

ABOUT US
The use of themed group shows to facilitate the production of new work is the cornerstone of Deadline Projects, a Chicago art collective comprised of local emerging artists.  Each Deadline Projects event features a central theme with an ever-growing group of participating artists.  All artworks presented at each event are made specifically for the central theme, thus supplying new creative fodder for the artists as well as providing consistently fresh, previously un-exhibited artwork for the unveiling to the masses.  Deadline Projects is dedicated to making each event a unique and memorable experience.

Happy Dog Gallery is located at 1542 N. Milwaukee, 2nd Floor-- just a short walk from the Damen blue line stop.  More information about the show, links to participating artists, and video documentaries of past shows can be found at http://www.deadlineprojects.com.
